Happy Easter! He is Alive!! (and so are we even though we haven't posted anything in a while :))

Our various ministries are going well. Jesse's Bible Study has grown
to a group of sixteen young men and women, a mix of new believers and
unbelievers. We were able to borrow a video projector last Saturday
and show them the Jesus film. We have also had several them over just
for fun, which is building good relationships.

Jesse starting teaching a course called "The Christian Life" at the
Bible School this month on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. It is
going VERY well. The students have gotten really excited about the
Bible study methods he's teaching.

We are still working on how to set boundaries that give us personal
space and family time and yet communicate the genuine love we have for
people here and desire to have an open home.

I am progressing slowly but surely in Kirundi. The tutor I had seems
to be a bit to busy to meet with me on a regular basis, so I have been
working through a lesson book on my own and going over pronunciation
with him as time permits.

We continue to struggle with illnesses (the Easter service is going on
right now and Zach and I are home sleeping and blowing our noses and
having chicken noodle soup instead of the Easter dinner we were
invited to) and all of us are frankly tired of not feeling good and of
struggling to get Zach to gain weight. He was up to eighteen pounds
before our trip to Kigoma but contracted a sore throat while there,
stopped eating solids as a result, and dropped almost three pounds.
He is now back up to sixteen and a half, but that's pretty tiny for an
eleven month old.

Zach is still developmentally normal, though, and took his first steps
last week! He is still not really walking, but can make about five
steps between two people. He is so proud of him accomplishment that
he often claps for himself when he reaches his goal. He waves to
everyone he sees, which only adds to the charm of his cute smile. Of
course I'm not at all prejudiced towards him or anything…

Hope you all are doing well! Please keep writing! Joy
