Thank you again for your prayers. Jesse is still not a hundred
percent, but he is doing better. His pain level is down to about a 3
or 4 most days, though still with occasional spurts that keep him up
at night. Doctors around town have had varied opinions about what
was/is wrong-- arthritis, electrolyte imbalance because of the kidney
issues, vitamin deficiency... though no one seems certain or willing
to do tests to really find out. Since he has been feeling a bit
better, we are prayerfully planning to wait until we are in Kenya to
have the baby for him to get a really good physical.
The boys ended up on antibiotic for their colds/bronchitis but are now
both doing very well. When we took Zach to the doctor for the cough I
was a bit disappointed to discover that he has only gained 2 and 1/4
pounds in the past eight months. A child his age should grow about 4
and a half pounds a year, so he needs to hit another spurt soon to
reach that goal.
We are currently hosting four new guests in our home (our volunteer
Danielle's family) and I am in charge of planning their schedule as
well as coordinating schedules for three other volunteers that are
staying with Jim and Vicki Brooks. They all carried materials for the
Discovery School over the ocean, which was a big blessing, and they
have been working hard at the school-- teaching the kids to play
memory, repairing the climbing net on the playground, sewing reading
corner pillows, painting murals, etc... One is a professor from
Liberty University, and she taught a training seminar for the teachers
on Friday. Danielle's family is hosting a movie night for the
teachers at our house tonight. They'll be watching the Lion, the
Witch, and the Wardrobe.
It is a blessing to be able to show people Africa for the first time
and to have a chance to share the ministries we are involved in. We
would love to have any of you that want to come!! We are really
praying that someone will come to volunteer at the school next fall
and take over some of the responsibility while, Lord willing, our
family adjusts to the arrival of a new little one.
Jesse has been taking the guests to see all kinds of things-- the
Blind school, the possible sight for the new Bible School, church
Bible study near the Congo border last Thursday, etc..., and they even
got to go to an outdoor film showing on Friday night. Today Jesse is
taking the guests to a church in the hills. There are two sermons
each morning, so both Jesse and Danielle's dad will be speaking-- I am
praying that they will be blessed and be a blessing! I kept the boys
at home since I wasn't feeling well and it will be a six hour
adventure. I am hanging in there, one day at a time, seeing the
nausea as an encouraging sign that the pregnancy is going well so far,
though I haven't managed to get to the doctor for a check up or
ultrasound yet.
Have a blessed Lord's Day! thank you more than we can say for your
love and support!
Joy
