After another pretty miserable week, we have prayerfully decided that
Jesse will head to Kenya this Monday, May 17th. I searched on-line
and found that there is one rheumatologist/pain doctor that works in
Kenya. Lord willing, Jesse will see him on the 18th. We are also
planning for him to see an internal medicine doctor from Kijabe
Hospital on the 21st or 22nd. Please pray that Jesse will have a safe
trip, and that this will be a positive turning point in terms of his
health. Pray that the doctors will have wisdom and be able to quickly
diagnose and determine some good treatments that will relieve his
pain. We are hoping Jesse will be able to return on the 23rd so that
he can begin teaching his next Bible School course and scheduled on
the 24th (and also spend less time away from home), but unless they
are able to get the results of any lab work quite quickly, that will
be a stretch. He will be staying a few days with the Ryders, the
parents of my high school roommate, and a few days with Jacob and
Susan Varghese, an Indian family that works with CMML in Nairobi.
Pray also for the boys, Danielle, and I as we remain here. Next week
is the week that vidoegraphers will be coming to video the Discovery
School kindergarten to make a training video for a government school
teacher training seminar this summer. The videographer doesn't speak
any English, so with my limited French and Kirundi, communicating with
him and his team will be a challenge, especially since I don't feel
good much of the time. Pray that I will have patience with the boys
through it all as well. Also, Burundi is scheduled to have
parliamentary elections on May 21st, the Friday of the week Jesse is
gone. This is the first election since the war officially ended in
2007. Please pray that it will be completely peaceful.
Thank you again for your prayers and support,
Joy
