trickling in

Dear All,
Thanks for praying! The water has continued to trickle in—literally
and figuratively. A bit of water came from the city during the day
yesterday and today. Ken has continued ferrying tanks of water from
his house, the army general who attends our assembly sent another
tanker full of water, and another regular attender who is a contractor
bought two giant tanks and has been ferrying them back and forth on
one of his construction trucks. No one has been able to shower, but
at least there has been enough for drinking and cooking. I've attached
some pictures of water being handed out from the cement storage tank
that all the "water-bringers" have been filling.

A second case of cholera was reported yesterday—one of the men who
shared dishes with the Congolese man who was first to get sick—but one
of the advantages of the water shortage is that all the water is
coming from outside sources that aren't in danger of having been
contaminated. No new cases were reported today—PTL.
There were at least 7,000 attendees at the conference both yesterday
and today, and at least 50 people accepted the Lord yesterday—not sure
about today's numbers yet. The films are still going—they have been
showing Christian films every night. Tonight is special, though. The
film that is starting as I write is the first film produced by the
film team themselves. It is a fictional story about the salvation of
an army officer. The copy they are showing is only a rough edit, but
it is still exciting for them to be able to share it at the
conference. Everything ends tomorrow afternoon around 2pm our time,
but don't stop praying. Continue to pray that those who made
professions of faith will continue to learn and grow.
Pray also that God will bring just the right teachers for the
Discovery School. Testing for new applicants starts bright and early
Monday morning, and since they have been announcing our 4 job openings
at the conference, I suspect that we'll be swamped. Last but not
least, pray for Melissa, the volunteer teacher from the US who will
arrive next Wednesday. She is planning to stay the whole school
year!! Hip hip hooray!
Thanks SO much for the essential part you are playing in all of this!
