Thanks for your prayers. As of yesterday, Zach seems to be on the upswing.
After testing Micah's hearing (low level hearing loss was revealed) and looking at Zach's throat and medical history, the ENT doctor says that both the boys need surgery before returning to Africa. Zach will have a tonsillectomy and Micah will have tubes put in his ears on the first available date-- April 14th. Zach then needs to remain stateside for a three week recovery time.
The way the Lord worked out the specialist and the scheduling is incredible, and though at first I was frustrated that the pediatrician didn't listen to my first plea to have Zach's tonsils removed (I asked back in October) I am now thankful for the timing as it was this visit to the ENT for Zach that prompted us to have Micah's hearing checked and made his surgery possible.
We will need to reschedule our return to Burundi for as soon after this recovery time as possible. We have faxed a doctor's letter to Ethiopian airlines, but so far they seem reluctant to let us move our tickets without high fees.
