The entire plane was quiet on the descent into Bujumbura except for Zach and Micah, who couldn't contain their excitement. "We're really here! Are we on the ground yet? When I see our house I will hug it! Yeah, Burundi!" Then we exited the baggage claim area to find a group of close to thirty people-- Discovery School staff, church leaders, friends, and Ken and his boys-- waiting to greet us, which was a wonderful and encouraging start to being back.
Thank you so much for your prayers. We had at least one empty seat beside us on each of the international legs, which was a huge help and enabled each of us to get at least a few hours of sleep during the thirty or so hours of travel. The boys were troopers. Several people commented on what good travelers they were.
All our boxes came through fine, and no duty was charged on anything, even the extra ministry laptops we had packed. Praise the Lord!
We are still waking up at odd hours of the night, but thankfully the power has been on for all but about thirty minutes since we got here, which makes middle of the night playtimes easier to cope with.
Jesse has been spending lots of time reconnecting with our Burundian ministry partners, and I have been unpacking and getting us resettled. Our older boys are loving the chance to play with Ken and Melli's kids again, and Elliot is surprisingly happy despite all the changes. Prayer definitely makes a difference, so please keep it up!!
Pray for similar traveling mercies for the volunteers who will be coming out this summer. The first one, Naomi, will arrive next Wednesday.
Also, we are planning to send the boys back to school on Monday. The transition back to sitting still and hearing/speaking only French will be a doozy, and I covet your continued prayers on their behalf.
Thanks again and God Bless You,
Jesse, Joy, and the boys
