Happy Birth - Day Prayer Request

This is Joy's mom writing again... with an update. Jesse and Joy are not near a computer and asked me to send out their thanks and praise and ask for continued prayer....

Dear Friends,

Thanks so much  for praying.  Elliot Nathaniel Johnson was born today in Nairobi, Kenya at 8:21 am EST.  He weighs 7lbs 10.5 oz and is 20 inches long.

Joy had a short but hard labor and is doing okay.  Her blood pressure is quite low so they are working on that.

Elliot needs our prayers.  He is not breathing efficiently.  The doctor says there are  3 possibilities as to what is causing this and he has ordered tests to help figure out what's happening.  In the meantime, they are keeping Elliot in an incubator to keep him warm while they carefully monitor his respirations and oxygen level.  Joy got to hold him for a few moments after his birth before he was taken away to deal with the breathing concern.   Please pray for wisdom for the doctors and that the Lord will help him get through this and over it!  They are feeding him with IV's for now.  They don't want him to put forth the effort to suck until he is breathing better.

We are very thankful that Joy's labor was short because the umbilical cord was tied in a knot…  they don't think his breathing problem has anything to do with that though.  His color is good and we are thankful for that, but they are keeping the oxygen handy as needed.

Please continue to pray for Zach and Micah as well.  Both of them have colds.  Micah has had a fever too.  Thankfully, Jesse's mom, Ruthie Johnson is there to help them.

We are thankful, too, that they are in Nairobi with good medical care.  Thanks to all who have supported them in any way!  We praise God for you.

THANKS again for praying
