home again

Dear All,

We are home safe and sound, and all our luggage is here too. Praise
the Lord!! The Discovery School teachers came today to welcome the
baby-- they brought gifts of sodas and bananas and danced and sang
praise songs and prayed for our family and for Elliot specifically.
It was a very special time. Melli also had a welcome home party for
Elliot yesterday with a yummy chocolate cake just for him (too bad he
couldn't taste any, but we made sure to eat his share :)).

The Egyptian pediatrician was at Ken and Melli's for the party, and
his first comment was that Elliot looked pretty yellow-- did we know
his billirubin level? Of course we don't have any actual numbers--
the Kenyan doctor just said it looked like the jaundice was receding,
so the Egyptian doctor asked us to come in this morning to have him
tested, which we did. Though his level is not dangerous in itself, it
is high for four weeks and, as others have told us, prolonged jaundice
can be the sign of bigger problems. Dr. Morgan will retest Elliot on
Tuesday to make SURE it is going down. I am so emotionally and
physically exhausted that even the suggestion that there might still
be a problem is proving hard for me to handle. Pray that I will be
able to rest in the Lord, who has already done SO much for us in the
past few weeks, and that Elliot will get less and less yellow as the
days go by.

Zach had a good first day back at school, and Micah is loving being home.

Thanks for your continued prayers!
