BROKEN ARMS--
Zach broke both bones in his left forearm while jumping in a bouncy castle at Ken and Melli's son Christopher's birthday party yesterday. We were able to get his arm put in a cast last evening (not fun!), but left the doctor's office still unsure that it was set well enough to heal correctly. Then my cousin who works in the ER in Maine called us with answers to some of our questions, and after talking to him and having another consultation with the doctor here in Burundi this morning, the verdict is that we don't have to make a second attempt to correct the alignment! Praise the Lord! Zach is handling things like a trooper. (It helped that Charlotte drew cool pictures on his cast)!
God answered lots of prayers for us-- roads here are closed Sat. am for community clean up, and we weren't sure we would be allowed through all the police stops in time to reach the doctor and see him before it was time to get Ning at the airport. The police at every single stop just waved us through-- we didn't even have to explain what had happened...
and then we got in to see the doctor after only a five minute wait! Last night we waited for over an hour to show him the follow up x-ray and still left without being able to see him, so to get in that quickly this morning was a real gift. We even had time to eat lunch before the airport run.
BROKEN X-RAY MACHINES--
Praise the Lord that the machine needed to x-ray Zach's arm was working, though Ken did have to hook up his generator so there would be power to turn on the machine... and that it kept working for all the needed pictures despite a small electrical fire...
Praise the Lord that the x-ray machine the custom's officials use to check luggage was broken, so none of Ning's boxes were scanned or opened, and all of the technology items she brought, as well as the toys for the Discovery School, got through without a hitch. I can't wait to see the kids faces when they see those dolls and cars. We will be using the digital voice recorders she carried out to start recording sermons for play on a local radio station, and the new computer bought with a gift from Westside in Oregon should be fast enough to help the film team render the Christian film they created...
Lots to be thankful for today!!
