Dear All,
Thank you so much for all of your emails and prayers. The doctor says Zach had a combination of a bacterial infection of the intestines and rotavirus. I am so glad we came to Nairobi, as they were able to diagnose him within six hours of arrival; had a phlebotomist who was able to put in several more IVs (the Tanzanian nurses did not have access to any small IV needles and had maxed out their ability to put more into him). The care and clean facilities here are exceptional. Zach seems MUCH better today- he only had diarrhea once yesterday and didn't throw up at all. The doctor says we can take him "home" if we bring him back tomorrow for another check. We are not sure when we will head back to Burundi--but we will be here at least a week so the doctor can reassess Zach after giving him a chance to start to put weight back on. Zach is still weak and has lost LOTS of weight. We would like him to build up his strength a little. Please continue to pray that we will have wisdom. We are so thankful for God's help through this latest storm. We certainly don't understand why we have been out of Burundi so much, but we have felt that the Lord has lead us through each decision. We constantly pray for wisdom and have asked you to pray about it too, and we are trusting that he gave it and will continue to give it and that all of this is part of his plan.
More once we are settled elsewhere,
Joy
